How Stuart Arrests Work
Stuart is the county seat. The city is Martin County's largest incorporated place. It counted 17,425 residents in the 2020 Census. The Stuart Police Department handles police work inside the city. Its Operations Division runs road patrol around the clock, works traffic enforcement, and opens investigations. MCSO and other agencies can arrest people in Stuart too. The agency field shows who made the arrest. It may not show who holds the person now.
A custodial arrest creates two record tracks. SPD may keep the arrest report. The Martin County Sheriff's Office holds the jail intake, custody status, and any releasable booking photo. A court file adds a third track. It opens once charges are formally filed. Booking records identity, charge, property, and custody details at intake.
Where Stuart Arrests Appear
Start with the official sources. No standalone SPD arrest log or daily blotter exists. That gap does not mean Stuart lacks arrest records. It means the police report must be requested from SPD, while county booking and custody data live with MCSO.
| Channel | What it answers | Photo | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| SPD Police Report Request | City incident or arrest report | Ask the custodian | Official city source |
| MCSO Recent Bookings | Bookings within the published 10-day window | Not promised on landing page | Official county source |
| MCSO Jail Inmate Search | Present county custody and arrest information | Available where public | Official-linked source |
| Martin County Clerk | Docket, filing, plea, judgment, or disposition | No booking-photo promise | Official court source |
| Local news and aggregators | Selective stories or copied indexes | Varies | Unofficial, verify |
The county feed is not city-filtered. Look for Stuart Police Department in the arresting-agency field. Someone booked by SPD may have been released, transferred, or bonded out by the time you read the record.
Find a Stuart Arrest Booking
Separate the recent event from current detention. MCSO posts a rolling ten-day booking source. Its inmate search covers current custody, and the Booking Unit can confirm a live status when an online result is unclear.
- Check the official MCSO Recent Bookings source for the approximate date and name.
- Use the MCSO Jail Inmate Search to test current custody and photo availability.
- Review the arresting-agency field, if shown, to see whether SPD made the arrest.
- Call the Booking Unit at 772-220-7220 when present custody must be confirmed.
- Request the city police report from SPD and the jail booking record from MCSO.
- Use the Clerk's criminal records search for the case and eventual disposition.
A missing result proves little. The ten-day window can expire on a fresh arrest. Intake may still be processing, an affidavit may be delayed, or details may be protected. Juvenile misdemeanor arrests stay out of the public booking view. The same goes for information covered by Marsy's Law. Another Florida exemption can block it too.
For the wider photo and roster path, see the Martin County booking-photo section. It separates a current jail listing from the durable record a custodian keeps.
SPD Arrest Report Requests
Stuart's Online Services page is the police report route. The city's general records page excludes police records outright. Sending a police request through that broad channel can cost you days. Give SPD the full name, a narrow date range, the location if known, and the report type. Ask for the arrest or incident report.

Use the police report request in Online Services.
Jail intake, booking cards, arrest affidavits, and booking photos belong to the sheriff. Contact MCSO Records for those items. The Records Unit sits at 800 SE Monterey Road, Stuart, FL 34994, phone 772-220-7050. Weekday hours run 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Its electronic portal issues a request number and security key for tracking. Records may be redacted. That happens when an exemption applies.
The SPD Online Services source is Stuart's own police-report route. It shows why police requests should not go to the general city records channel.

The captured interface documents the route, not any person's record or guilt.
Stuart Booking and Photo Fields
The county roster lists standard administrative fields. Expect name, age, booking date and time, projected release date, status, charges, arresting agency, bond amount, and report pagination. The current-as-of timestamp matters, since jail status changes fast. A projected release date does not prove release. A bond figure does not prove bond was posted.
- Booking record
- The jail intake data and related custody documents.
- Booking photograph
- The intake image, if maintained and publicly releasable.
- Arrest affidavit
- The probable-cause account supporting an arrest, subject to redaction.
- Disposition
- The court's final result, such as dismissal, plea, acquittal, or judgment.
MCSO describes its current-inmate search as holding arrest information and photos for people in custody at that moment. Not every image is public. Some photos may not stay online after release. If no photograph appears, request a releasable copy instead of relying on a copied image.
Stuart Arrest Timing Gaps
Stuart's county-seat location keeps the police, sheriff, jail, and clerk offices close together. That convenience hides a source problem. Each office controls a different record. Proximity does not make SPD the custodian of a jail photo. Nor does MCSO hold every city incident report.
Posting schedules differ as well. MCSO defers affidavit uploads that fall on a weekend or observed holiday to the next business day. A person can sit booked while the probable-cause paperwork stays invisible. The recent-bookings page promises no hourly update. Note the checked-at time when recording current status.
Note: A delayed document is not the same as an absent arrest; ask the right custodian before concluding.
County-Seat Record Custodians
Stuart is home to most of Martin County's record offices, yet a short trip downtown is not always the shortest path to a record. Every arrest document sits with a different custodian. Stuart police hold their own incident narratives and arrest reports. The sheriff's office controls the jail side: booking records, custody status, and booking photographs. The Clerk indexes a matter only after it is filed. Aim a request at the wrong office and you will usually get a referral instead of the record.
Match the record to the event. The arresting-agency label tells you who wrote the incident report. The booking facility points to MCSO. A court case number belongs with the Clerk. If FHP or another outside agency made a Stuart stop, SPD may hold nothing responsive even though the location sat inside city limits. The county jail can still hold that booking record.
This split also explains clashing timestamps. Neither source has to be wrong. Police paperwork starts at the event, jail data at intake, and a docket only after filing, so read each date in light of the office that published it. Context settles most date confusion.
Stuart Arrest Coverage
TCPalm and WPTV both cover Martin County crime, Stuart included. News coverage adds dates, agency statements, and context. Neither outlet runs a complete daily booking feed. Hometown News archives old arrest-report columns, but those are historical pages rather than a live roster.
Commercial indexes are another matter. Busted Newspaper, RecentlyBooked, Mugshots.com, and Treasure Coast FL Mugshots may carry Stuart or Martin County entries. They lag corrections and releases. Their material can outlast the county's live view. Treat them as unofficial leads, never a substitute for an MCSO custody check or the Clerk's outcome.
For a filed case, the Clerk's official records search is the right next step. A docket can show the first appearance, charging document, plea, and sentence. It will not reflect a very fresh arrest.
After a Stuart Arrest
An arrest record in Stuart follows a simple arc. Booking comes first, then the court case. Custody can end several ways. Release, bond, transfer, or another lawful change all close a county stay. A later state prison sentence moves the person out of county hands and into the Florida Department of Corrections search. VINELink may offer custody notifications where the live Florida interface confirms coverage.
Older material goes back to its source agency. Ask for the incident report there, booking records at MCSO, and the judicial result at the Clerk. Florida's retention schedules govern government record series. A ten-day online feed is not an archive promise, though, and a record can stay requestable long after it drops off a public page.
Choosing the Right Time Window
Checking activity from today is not the same task as reviewing several days of bookings. Know which question you are asking. The newest entries in MCSO's recent-bookings source suit a same-day check. Martin County promises no separate hourly feed, though. The Arrested Today guide covers how to read that newest slice and when to confirm a result with the Booking Unit.
The wider view works differently. The official recent-bookings source runs a rolling ten-day window. It records booking events without certifying continued detention. A current-inmate search can lose a released person while the event stays visible, and an older public record may outlast both views. A Stuart arrest outside that window calls for the SPD report and the booking material from MCSO. Treat an empty live search as a prompt, not an answer.
